Every week. :P
A ritual of the .org :P
My AMV brings all the girls to the .org, and there like 'It's better then yours'. Damn right, it's better then yours, I could teach you, but I'd have to charge.

I don't think a vid is relevent because of whether or not it's hyped up on effects. I think what matters most is that the editor cared enough to create something geniunely unique, and took the time to do so. That's the heart of editing. I'm pretty much an effects-addict myself, and I love watching stuff that makes me twitch, or get a visual high from all the pretty stimuli. To each his or her own tastes. (I guess some people are easily blinded. Heh heh heh.) Besides, gawking at pretty things is just part of human nature. I don't think we're all so philosophical as to care about what's underneath, especially for vids. After all, if you put a guy in a room with a cold hearted pretty girl, and a nice, but homely lass... no one is surprised at what the outcome will likely be. If you want a story, read a book. Watch television. Attend a play. You're likely to be far less disappointed, and everyone will be all the happier.

I wouldn't be here if I didn't.

Well, sorry to burst the proverbial bubble. Making a video with a strong concept requires time and thought. Making one with personality is even more difficult. I doubt anyone likes spending lots of time on one project. Most people don't even like to think. That's just the way it goes. Not that people don't care... there's just too much distraction. It's easier to whip out something that looks pretty and sounds catchy than to integrate some kind of deep meaning or message into the vid.

I still like to think it's otherwise. Not to speak for others, but at least I myself like to think, and for me - I don't put serious work time into anything that I don't have a personal, intellegent connection to. For me, it doesn't pay off.

Now, I full-well realize that a lot of people like to make AMV's to attract attention and get recognition for themselves. But that's not everyone.

And it's also true that I get much more out of videos that have a solid, meaningful foundation than those with nothing but nice presentation. It's the same way for me and music, etc.

Geez, it would be a bummer if I suddenly became the only one who actually likes to think when approaching videos.

No bubble has been burst for me... I do what I do. If I didn't believe in video as a conceptual art, I wouldn't have made Playground Love. That's an effects video, technically, based on what seems to be the general definition of an effects video... I suppose I internalize these things too much and only apply them to myself. Regardless, I like to critique in a meaningful way. I suppose that's why I leave so very few opinions.
