Story in an AMV?

Post by DemonSpawn » Sun Apr 11, 2004 11:56 am

I've seen a bunch of videos that convey a certain mood or emotion, profile a character, as well as a bunch of other "traditional" AMV objectives, but what about those that tell a story?

Either a story from the anime/game, or a completely original one. I'm curious as to how common they are, how people like them, etc.

I find they used to be more common. AMVs nowadays are becoming alot more visual with the growing skill of the editors and it getting easier to edit videos. You can still find alot of videos that tell the Spike > Julia > Vicious storyline.

In the older version of this amv everyone commented how beautiful the storytelling was :)

Hope I got that BBcode right for once.[/url]

Best Ninja Scroll video in my eyes. The only one that tells the story.

I'm a huge fan of AMV's that tell a story, especially one other than the anime. There are defiantly fewer of those being made as effect driven AMV's become more and more common. Not to say that some of the plot driven ones do not have good effects, I remember one, A Thousand Miles I believe, that constructed a love triangle between characters in three different animes, which needless to say required some ingenious editing.

I find that nowadays it's easiest to find them by looking for instrumental pieces (Insert shameless plug for Animasia here) which often tell the story of the anime.

It would probably be more common if plot driven where a category like dance or character profile, especially if that category was recognized in contests. If I had something to give away as prizes I would create my own contest, similar to Castor Troy's WMM contest. Hmmm......

That was Transcending Love.

Kwasek's A Thousand Miles is good too though.

oops

Sorry bout that, but since I'm posting again I'd like to point out Shellshock as a good example of a instrumental vid that tells a story.

Wow I am just incompetent today. I meant Prelude to War. In my defense they both use older Gundam series.
