My favorite releases so far for 2004:

Suffocation - 'Souls to Deny'
DragonForce - 'Sonic Firestorm'
Decapitated - 'The Negation'
Persuader - 'Evolution Purgatory'
Winds - 'The Imaginary Direction of Time'
Ayreon - 'The Human Equation'

Some of these aren't actually out yet, but I've acquired them through downloading and will most likely buy when they are out.

Demilich's 'Nespithe' is available for free, legal download on their homepage, in case anyone didn't know.

I haven't seen much mention of DragonForce here either, check out some of their songs:

I'm still very eagerly awaiting:

Ensiferum - 'Iron'
A new Bal-Sagoth
A new album from The Chasm
New stuff from Immolation
HOPEFULLY a new Sadus album
Borknagar - 'Epic'
Vomitory - 'Primal Massacre'

And that's about all I can think of at the moment.

I'd just like to point out to mods that yes, that indeed is a legal link. :P

The new Threshold album 'Subsurface' is also due out in July. I'll most likely be getting that as well.

Dates for these releases are respectively 4/27 and 4/19. I can't wait for either.

The reason that DragonForce doesn't get more use around the .org is that nobody's editing prog can keep up with Sam and Herman for seven full minutes. It really boggles me that the song they've released as a single from the new one is both a ballad AND significantly faster than a lot of the material on that ridiculous speed-demon of a first album (which somehow bumped up both tempos and runtimes from their similarly ridiculous demo).

I've said it before, though maybe not around here: if God was a Chinese man with four-foot hair and an Ibanez guitar, his name would be Herman Li and he would play in a band called DragonForce.

Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.
CHOPWORK - abominations of maceration
skywide, armspread : forward, upward
Coelem - Tenebral Presence single now freely available

Ooooh, I haven't heard any of the new Ayreon, how is it?
Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

Heh, yeah you definitely have a point there. I'm not too knowledgable about AMV's in the first place, so I hadn't really thought of that. I remember hearing the VotD'd title track solo for the first time, and thinking "this just defies all logic." I did order the Japanese import version of Sonic Firestorm, because I thought 'Cry of the Brave' was worth that extra twenty dollars (and because I wasn't the one paying for it). I think it's actually out in Japan already, because I got an e-mail today telling me that it shipped.

Excellent. All the vocal roles are played very well (though they could be considered excessive at times), and the music is stellar. One of the best composed concept albums I've heard in a while.
