Kenshin? Vash? [are they the same?]

Vash is the main character from Trigun. He's the blond, broom-headed guy.
Kenshin is the main character from Rurouni Kenshin. He's the guy with red hair and a scar on his cheek.
Two different people. Similar ideals and personalities, but still not the same person.

They do kinda seemlike the same anime at times...
