Virtualdub problems :(

Post by Jonny Bebop » Thu Apr 01, 2004 12:33 pm

Well like the title says Im having problems with VirtualDub. I'm doing as AD's guide says (like I always do) and when i try to do the first pass my computer goes really slow then virtualdub crashes. A little message will then come up on my taskbar saying "virtual memory too low". I have checked my virtual memory settings and they are by far enough. Does anyone know what could be wrong or is there something Im missing. Oh yeah I have to mention that Im not using Avisynth for this because for some reason it wont work on said video. So this means im using virtualdub filters and therefore full processing mode. I'd really appreciate any help with this, thanks  .

how much is "enough"?

My virtual memory settings are in the gigabytes, for example.

2000mb to 2500mb, I think that should be enough, if not then what should it be?

ok that should be ok but I need more info...

what are you feeding into virtualdub?

If it's an avisynth script then what is the script?

What compresors are you using?

What filters are you applying?

etc

Like i said before Im not using avisynth because for some reason none fo the filters work on it except for resizing, so instead i am using virtual dub filters which are : Resize using Lanczos3 method, deinterlace - area based v1.4 and temporal cleaner. Thanks for this.

Yeah, but which version of xvid? There's so many things that could be going wrong that I need as much info as possible.

If you are using a 1.0 build, please make sure you uninstalled the old one correctly and you read instructions (search this forum) on how to use the new build.

It is really amazing how many things might go wrong if you install alpha and 1.0 together.....

I definitely would never guess that a memory leak is also an option.

PS. windows doesn't support more than 2GB of memory, so your physical ram + virtual ram shouldn't go beyond that, anything beyond 2gb will just be wasted.
