What is the typical processing time for deletion requests now that the VCAs are over? I'm eager to get one of my videos replaced with a better encode.

Yes, patience is a virtue, I know. ^^;

Hey, I was contemplating a system which would auto-delete all ops with an average of score of lets say... 1.5 for the composite op (i.e: 1 2 1 1 2 1 1 2 1). If this could be set to auto execute on the DB once every 3-4 months, you'd get alot less of the "OMG HE JUST GAVE ME A BASH SCORE CAUSE HE DOESNT LIKE ME!" complaints in your in boxes and the mod help forum.

Just a thought.

Will this script also remove any op above lets say.... 9.5 for the composite op (i.e: 10 9 10 9 10 9 9 10 9)? After all, if we're going to get rid of the extremes lets go all the way with it and get rid of both extremes.

Well, there are three types of all 10 ratings.

1) Overzealous n00bs who say, "Wow, the colors are pretty! 10s for you!" (I think I fall into this category....)

2) Buddies trying to inflate a video's score, either at your prompting or on their own.

3) A REAL all 10s rating (the rarest species...hope this is where I fall).

I've given two all 10s so far. Considering giving a third (it might be a 9 in Effects). I think it's due to having differing standards (plus my n00bishness).

Now, on the other hand, there are only two kinds of all 1s rating.

1) Some sort of venomous attack rating because you a) hate the creator, b) hate the song, c) feel the ratings for the video are grossly inflated, or d) think the video was stolen (this one is a special case...it might actually be right to do this).

2) You absolutely feel the video deserves all ones (and that'd have to be a crap-tastic video for sure....)

So, should you cut out all high and low opinions? Probably not. Because they provide valuable feedback. (Even an all 1s opinion tell's you you have some sort of rival/enemy/crazy person out there who feels it necessary to lower your PRECIOUS AVERAGE (oh my!)) :)

No, it would be RIGHT to report the video as a stolen vid, and let it be adressed, as scores have nothing to do with a intellectual property issue.

I could see a system for deleting all 10's scores being reasonable, but a 9.5+ is just screwed up.

Hey,

The top and bottom scores are already removed from the average calculation for the top 10% list. This is done automatically.

If we were to follow Dannywilson's idea and auto-delete ops with average scores less than 1.5, then why bother allowing scores to go that low anyway? Why not just make it a "1.5 to 10" scale?

Mine go to 11.

The point was, the scores WOULD stay for awhile, but they would get cleared every 4-6 months, dropping the malicious content while keeping the (hopefully) constructive content. I know the top and bottom scores are both discounted from the top 10% listing, but lets say you have a ~9.0 average, until a couple of people nail you with ~1.5 composite scores, one hits you with a 2.2 score because he has a beef with you on the forums, and another nails you with an all 1's because he wants his video which is at #95 now, to raise up a couple spots to 80 (you can be sure he did this to a couple dozen other people as well as you). Suddenly the first malicious score factors into your total far more than it typically would, it no longer being the lowest score.

I've personally had both items happen to me on several occasions usually right after one another, or when a video sits on or above the top 25%.

My $.02.

Enh. Maybe it's different for those of us who are popular enough to have significant numbers of opinions at all. I tend to think that I'm doing pretty well to get opinions, period, no matter how bad they are; if I were well known enough for people to have feuds against me and be motivated enough to make fake opinions like that, well, maybe I'd feel differently then, but at the moment I think that'd be pretty cool.

Only way I see Danny's way working, is if you delete it based on how much input is in the comment boxes. A video of all 1s should definately have ALOT of things listed in the comment boxes on what they can do to improve. Basically, to me, an opinion with all 1s where the opper gave enough consideration to explain in the comments on why its all 1s, and what the creater can do to improve that score, should stay. Ops that just say:

1 1 1 1 1 1 1

The good:
Nothing!

the bad:
Everything!

General:
You suck!

should probably get deleted. However if the comments goes on to list the bad things about the video then it can be considered a genuine comment.
Ofcourse this can still be abused, as all the oper would have to do is type in a bunch of nonsense if the script worked on the usefullness score of the opinion. so its still not perfect. But it would weed out alot of them I think.
