Seriously. Premiere Pro sucks at exporting Mpeg-4, and I can't get any audio compression out of Virtualdub. What am I supposed to do? Use TMPEGenc?

Don't export Mpeg-4. Export HuffYUV with Uncompressed audio and compress it in VDub with XVid and Lame.

Haven't you been paying any attention at all? VDUB + LAME = ERROR MESSAGE!

That's kind of required for choosing which audio compresssion method I want to see error messages from.

For the record, if I choose not to compress the audio at all, then Vdub works fine.

Have you tried adding the audio in seperately by using the original audio file that you placed in Premiere instead?

That's usually what I have to do.

That error message usually appears when you've chosen an audio format that isn't the same as your source - e.g. compressing a 48khz file with 44khz settings (without setting conversion options).
