As for web hosting, have you considered uploading your videos to the Donut?
I personally have been using Premiere Pro since December, when Premiere 5.1 stopped working on me. Other favorite programs around here include Vegas, Ulead Video Studio, whatever Magix Music Maker is now known as, and of course, Windows Movie Maker (because it's free).
There's also Cinelerra for the Linux crowd, and Final Cut and Avid for the Mac users.

The Golden Donut is AMVs.org's very own dedicated AMV server. It's huge, it's fast, and it's totally free (for us to use, that is; though donations are always welcome).
To upload your videos to the Donut, click "Upload Video" from the Members main menu, and be sure that the video you want to upload:
1) uses mostly anime or anime-style video game cutscenes, nothing that's completely live action or American cartoons allowed
2) has no excessive gore/violence or sexual nudity
Every video that's marked as having a LOCAL download is hosted on the Donut, and only locally hosted videos are eligible to receive star ratings.

It's true that you can't download locally hosted vids until two weeks after your Joined date, but you can upload immediately.
"Nothing happened"? Could you be more specific?
Do you know how to use FTP? If not, there should be a link on one of the Upload pages marked "what the heck is FTP?" or something similar.

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... upload.php (the link, "Upload Video" on the menu on the right side of the screen on the members page)
It'll give you a particular user-name and password for that video that you'll put into your FTP software, along with the address, I think. You don't use the user-name and password used on the site.
That 'wtf is ftp' link is on the bottom of the page.
