Okay I think I need some help...
I've watched tons of videos.
I've read some of the guides.
I made a video with WMM. It sucks but at least it's a start.
I installed Adobe Premeire Pro 7.0 and ripped video off a DVD.
Now I'm trying to work with Adobe premiere but it's a bugger compared to WMM. Do you guys use this program to select cuts from the video??? When I imported video into WMM it created cuts that I could work with but Adobe doesn't do that, just a large file. If you don't use this program to make cuts what program do you suggest I make cuts with?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Some of us use AVISynth and de-interlace the DVD footage, then take into VirtualDub and make clips (some do this), then take the files (Huffy AVI or AVS (if you have the plugin) highly recommended) and put them where you want. In Premiere, there is a thing that allows you to chop the footage up into editable portions, but I use Magix, so I don't know...
THere's the basic gist of it, otherwise go to the Guides section of the page

If you double-click on the clip in the Library window, it'll come up on the left Monitor window, and you can specify the In and Out points you need to get the part you want, then just drag it onto the Timeline.BrsrkEva wrote:In Premiere, there is a thing that allows you to chop the footage up into editable portions, but I use Magix, so I don't know...

That's one of the sole reasons I use Magix, lolScintilla wrote:If you double-click on the clip in the Library window, it'll come up on the left Monitor window, and you can specify the In and Out points you need to get the part you want, then just drag it onto the Timeline.BrsrkEva wrote:In Premiere, there is a thing that allows you to chop the footage up into editable portions, but I use Magix, so I don't know...

The method Scintilla described isn't anything really exotic...I've used Final Cut Pro 4, Premiere Pro, and Cinelerra, and they all operate like that (or at least they can).BrsrkEva wrote:That's one of the sole reasons I use Magix, lolScintilla wrote:If you double-click on the clip in the Library window, it'll come up on the left Monitor window, and you can specify the In and Out points you need to get the part you want, then just drag it onto the Timeline.BrsrkEva wrote:In Premiere, there is a thing that allows you to chop the footage up into editable portions, but I use Magix, so I don't know...
Personally, I find that it's the fastest way to edit.
