That's the good thing about open source software, if you don't like the way it is, you can always change it yourself.

With the ammount of people that have been testing it, I would say so. If for some odd reason, that some bug still exists and you happen to be the only one to find it, well then I must say its your fault for not reporting the bug to them to fix.

It's why they're not needed.

If you don't like the UI design, though, tell the XviD developers, or hack the GUI yourself.

No. The compatibility of an XviD-encoded video stream with an OpenDivX/DivX5 decoder is nowadays dependent on the user of the encoder. Compatible output has been achievable (and has been achieved) since XviD was in beta testing.

Actually, yes.

Obviously if you try to use things that (say) an old OpenDivX decoder wouldn't know how to cope with then of course your file won't work in said decoder, but if you keep your encoding parameters within reason things should work just fine.

If you do find a bug, well, then, report it. I'm sure the XviD developers would love to know.

All this talk of changing XviD's GUI myself would be very helpful if I actually knew any programming languages :?

Point is, fuctions have been moved to places where most people wouldn't expect them to be, and thus a lot of people will wonder where the hell they are and/or think they don't exist. That's a step down, IMO.

The point of open source educational projects is not to tailor to the user's needs. If this happens, it's entirely of the developers' good will and a priveladge to the uneducated commoner. Nobody's asking you to use XviD, people may tell you you're stupid not to, but other than that it's purely to your benefit to do so. Essentially, there need be no difference between an xvid developer and an xvid user. You're lucky there is.

Unless you're going to design and submit a new interface, or code one yourself, complaining is useless. This isn't DXN.

Lets put it this way. The old GUI wasn't broke, and they tried to fix it. :?
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

It was broken, where were they supposed to stick zones, profile&levels, AR settings, etc? Maybe you're failing to realize how much of a complete overhaul dev-api-4/1.0 was from dev-api-3 and the 0.9.2 branch (and all previous branches, as well).

Again, feel free to design a better vfw UI. In fact, please do.

Nah, I barely care enough about XVID to use it let alone program a new gui. But then again maybe when I have some free time, a bottle of soda, some sex, and programming knowledge I'll give it a shot.

I could probably cook something up in MSpaint, but who would host it?
