About a Burning Fire

Post by crashman.2 » Fri Feb 27, 2004 7:09 pm

Two days ago, I whent to wal-mart and got Blindside's new cd "About a Burning Fire." the cd sounds good and some hard rocking songs, but one song "Hooray, It's L.A." have the word 'Damned' in it. I know you're saying who cares, every rock group said it. But Blindside is a Christian group and Christian groups never cuss. If you're a Blindside fan, go out and buy it.

So...mild curse words are the pinnacle of creativity in Christian metal?

Maybe you're right ithaqua. I do hear mild words from other christian metal groups I know, but they say it in a good way like in Hardened by Disciple "Don't want to be scared to believe/fire of hell I'll never see" and not like in the blindside song "And it's a damned cold night now". Do u see what i'm saying.

No, actually.
I'm kinda lost on this.

I mean, sure, that may be a boundary not usually pushed among more usual forms of Christian music, but in metal I don't see how it's an issue. Granted, my only experience in this genre is a friend forcing me to listen to Killswitch Engage, but it seems that they're screaming so loud, fast, and harsh that the occassional curse word would almost be necessary just to keep pace with the angry form of "holier-than-thou" used in the rest of the lyrics.

I mean really, being "damned" is a large part of Christian ideology. What other terms do these bands use to describe those not like them?
(I see that this isn't the context it was used in, but I really am suprised that this word just hasn't been used before).

I found out why the word "Damned" is in that song
wisemenpromotions.com wrote:on the song "Hooray for L.A." there is content that if taken by some may be offensive. I found this as an excellent explanation on their forum "Christian isn't swearing. He's saying it in its actual meaning, which is, like, forsaken. He's saying the night is damned and cold, because, in the song, he feels away from God. Because, really, any night where you feel away from God is forsaken, or "damned" as Christian puts it." Also this is a Swedish band and dialect is different in other cultures.

Hold on, this topic is about a christian metal band saying "damned"......even if it is or is not used in context with anything....wtf is the big deal? And yes christian bands do cuss on occasion..if you think damn is a 'curse word' in your world.

We need a Jewish metal band, preaching about the false messiah and circumcisions
