Post by dbzrkyyh » Sat Feb 21, 2004 9:22 pm

well like the title says , im looking for a song to go with X . im not looking for an all out action song . more of a song with a softer pre chorus, then at the chorus it getts harder . well , if theres any suggestions id appreciate it

X is very specific when it's up to AMV making. It has such a unique way of showing it's story that I think no song can ever show that in a video. I've just heard some song "I against I" which is some rap/techo mixture. Other than lyrics that can show the Kamui/Fuma relation, nothing else can make you decide using it. If I ever rated a video on this song I'd give it 2 for review 'cause it literarely makes a good torture method for your ears.

IMO, X is difficult to use depending on which source you use: X/1999(the movie), or X TV. While the movie is obviously more brilliantly animated, the TV show has more character development and therefore would have scenes that might not have any sort of connection to the plot of the series and could be manipulated to a particular theme. Of course, as far as the TV show goes, I'm not speaking from experience; the only time I used footage from X TV was a short clip that appeared in a commercial spot I did for my school.

The movie is hard to edit with because of it's lack of non-story-specific or non-action scenes, since you did mention that you wanted something that could be a soft prechorus and then get harder. The movie doesn't have enough slow-paced scenes in it to actually lend itself easily to that, while the show might; I've actually only watched the first DVD of X TV, but I have seen many videos of it that seem to have such footage.

In terms of music, if you want to use slower music with X, the series(movie included) itself is very gothic (like that's not immediately obvious), so things that could work well might be some mid-80s Goth rock like Sisters of Mercy or The Cure, some other dark electronic types of music like Depeche Mode or New Order, or maybe some mild Industrial-Goth like Vast or The Cruxshadows or light Industrial Metal like some of Stabbing Westward's slower songs. A lot of these kinds of music aren't really all that hard, they're more haunting, and then sometimes will pick up during the choruses (not to say these bands don't have songs that are just full-on adrenaline rushes, but a great majority of this type of material isn't as hard as say, Disturbed or like-minded (forgive the phrases) aggro-metal or nu-metal. In fact, most of these bands make very haunting or dreamlike music which would fit extremely well with the atmosphere of X but in the end you'd have to work on the pacing of the video, since these types of songs can be pretty erratic in their use of instruments and such, but that's an AMV-making given).

 I really, really hope this helps. Otherwise, I just said all of this for absolutely no reason at all.

Someone actually did a very good X video using the X movie and Orgy's "Dramatica". Here it is.

Orgy's "107" also has a slow start and a hard hitting chorus and has a dark mood as well.

Check out some stuff by Orgy, you just might find what you're looking for.

lol! I was about to start an X AMV! I was thinking of doing it to "New born" by Muse. You could try that.
I'm bored and you're dumb. A match made in heaven.
