Aside from toying with the idea of doing an instrumental piece, I've been dying to do another ballad since "Princess of the Wind" video. And after weeks of going through everything I have, downloading and listening to stuff online what do I focus in on?
Fates Warning - Chasing Time
Ok, if you're a FW fan, but this 1989 production is rather poor and Ray Alder's voice might turn off some people. It's very slow but has a beautiful violin solo in the middle. Can't think of a really good anime to go with it ........ <abandoned selection>
Stratovarius - Forever
In light of the crap going on with this band, T.Kotipelto mentioned in his statement that the "Episode" & "Vision" albums were Strat at their best. And being the Prince of Procrastination that I am, I finally decided to give "Episode" a listen. I've also listened to the Live recording of this song, and to be honest it has me hooked. But going over reviews and looking for other ballad song to choose from, too many people think it is way too cheesy. It's a nice, short song, but lyrically I'm beginning to see the distaste for it. Haibane Renmei (focusing on Rakka) immediately comes to mind ................. <on the verge of abandoning selection>
Looking around, there is alot who mention that Blind Guardian has some of the best ballads ever, so I'm going to give them a listen and see about that.
However, mabe someone can give a suggestion, because I for one want to see (if not make) another slow, ballad-type video. There just aren't very many.

Wow you haven't heard much Blind Guardian? Look for The Eldar, that's mostly piano but it's awesome. There's also The Maiden and the Minstrel Knight but there's already a video made to it. More songs to come as I remember them.
Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

I used a ballad by Dido once. You might check her two cd's; there might be another one worth using.
I can't think of a specific title right now, but I'm sure Loreena McKennit has done a few ballads (Celtic style). Some of the other Celtic artists could have something, too. Clannad or The Chieftains, for example. Enya...maybe...she's more in the New Age style.
There's a song called "Man In the Rain" on the Tubular Bells III cd by Mike Oldfield. He also has some older vocal ballads, "To France" and "Moonlight Shadow" (the original, not the recent dance mix). But they would be difficult to work into an AMV due to hardwired storylines.
("To France" is about Mary, Queen of the Scots. "Moonlight Shadow" is about a woman in love with a highwayman - probably derived from a British folk story.)
