Anime Boston AMV Contest - One Week Left!

Post by dokool » Wed Jan 21, 2004 11:25 am

Well, not quite. Entries are due in PatrickD's hands by the 31st of January, but one week from now (Jan 28th) is probably the latest that you can ship USPS Priority Mail and still make the deadline.

In any case, those of you who think that the contest is only going to be as good as last year's are in for a rude awakening, b/c I think that the quality of the competition is gonna go way up. (at least, if my entry compared to last year's is any indication)

And remember, me and Ashyukun will be co-hosting the AMV Panels (that's right, two of them!), so if you're at the con stop by. We're also looking to fill a couple panelist spots, so stay tuned for announcements.

*Bump*

4 days to go! If you're within a 3-hour radius of Boston, your Priority mail should get there overnight (as mine did). Otherwise, you may want to consider saving up for Express shipping...

Put it in the mail yesterday morning. It went to Portland, then Louisville, then Minneapolis. Tonight it's in Philly and tagged: "Adverse weather conditions delay".

I think it'll make it on time, but it's an epic journey for a half-pound box. :P

Well, the delay doesn't bother me as much as the fact that the tape I sent was sitting in the hold of an airplane in sub-freezing temperatures.

Once I made a trip back East at Xmas; got held over in Chicago in what turned out to be an overnight flight. That was the only time I've ever seen a frozen tube of toothpaste.

I will not be submitting due to the fact that VCD to VHS export looks
like crap and I don't own a DVD burner.

I ended up going through about 6 or 7 previously perfectly good CD-Rs before finally finding a bitrate setting such that the Mintek DVD player at home would play the video without skipping at all (while still retaining pretty good quality) so that I could record it to VHS (this was two or three weeks ago before I returned to The College). Got my confirmation e-mail a few days ago and they said the tape plays fine (thank goodness).

Sent mine in Friday. Hopefully, people will enjoy it.
