Jump To Japan

A special exhibit at the Seattle Children's Museum:
Totoro is coming! Totoro is coming!

Who is Totoro you ask? He is a Japanese child's favorite character! Ask any child in Japan, they would tell you Totoro is a magical animated creature with special powers. And…children are the only ones who can see him! One of the central characters in the children's film My Neighbor Totoro, created by the famous Japanese artist Hayao Miyazaki, Totoro will delight and surprise your children.

Your children can meet Totoro and all his friends starting January 24th and running through June 6th in the new exhibit Jump to Japan: Discovering Culture Through Popular Art.

TCM's brand new national, traveling exhibit will explore the origins of contemporary animation and manga (comic) characters. Jump to Japan is designed to introduce Japanese life and culture through arts that children can quickly relate....

Within the exhibit, children and parents will be able to:

Explore the Interactive Magic Cat Bus from My Neighbor Totoro
Create Comic (Manga) Drawings
Build Simple Animation Series
Role Play in a Japanese Manga Shop with Comics Filling Every Shelf
See Important Historical Connections of the Four Represented Art Forms
Visit with Guest Artists Creating Manga and Woodblock Prints
Unfortunately, I can't find any pictures online. The local paper is showing an 8-ft tall plush catbus that kids can climb inside of.

The show will be in-town during Sakura-con, but it's at least a 30-minute drive from the convention.

Role Play in a Japanese Manga Shop with Comics Filling Every Shelf
No good can come from that. Mixing LARP with a fully stocked facsimile of a manga store will only yeild a scene of distruction, fire, blood, smoke, police barrier tape and a hospital parking lot used for makeshift triage.

that exhibit doesn't sound bad at all... cept the possible role playing 'accidents' that can happen if ppl decide to bring in home-made costumes...

but i'm interesting in the little create-a-manga thing they got going
just hope they don't decide to publish anything from there... unless it's not crap of course :D
If you're reading this, you've gone too far...PREPARE FOR RETRIBUTION!!
Don't judge an AMV by it's anime.. u nooB ;D

There will be the bloodiest Manga fight in history!

Remember in the Simpsons, Burns and Smithers have a 'Money Fight' and throw money at each other? It's like that, only they light the books on fire before they throw then and try to hit you in the face with the spine of the book.

And people will start pulling the kenshin moves with their LARP swords!

OH THE HUMANITY!
