Hey Red Wolf,

(trying to get the thread back on topic) What you may want to do is test your DVD writer with a variety of DVD brands. Give a list of which brands (possibly specific models of discs) work with your drive and then INSIST that blanks-and-postage swaps be made with only those brands. Anyone who sends a disc not of a compatible brand will have their disc returned to them blank. This plan will give the person who wants the DVD the most flexible choice as to which medium to use based on which is available at their local Wal-Mart, Target, K-mart, or wherever. If it turns out that the disc is not compatible with the recipients DVD drive, that person can offer it up as a blank-and-postage swap to someone else specifying a different brand of blank that will eventually be sent again to you (Red Wolf). I think this plan will minimize compatibility issues and the burden placed on you for providing the service. Sound good?

Personally, I greatly dislike the idea of ANYONE specifically swapping cash for AMV-filled media. This is why the system here at the Org is purely voluntary donations; anyone can get the exact and full access to the site without handing over a dime.

Phade.

 I think supermediastore.com may offer a DVD-/+R sampler pack, you may want to look at that to maximize the number of brands you test while trying to minimize cost...

Whatever the solution you find, I really like this idea of distributing DVDs through the distro center. Good luck Red Wolf !

What if you have the people send the dvds but still have the option to pay if they want to pay for the hi quality dvds. That way you are not forcing everyone to pay for dvds but for people who still want to pay can do so.

Hmm.. Both Ideas work, I like the send in three or four dvds to make sure one works. Even with compatable DVDs there's still that one dvd that didn't like the burn. (fool proof hah!). A combination of that and the pay A $1.20 for the disc can work, but for ease I'd say if you want a dvd buy a 3 or 5 pack pack (of the preferred brand ect.) and send it in that way if you ever want another you can buy a singe with one or two that were left over for backup for the next, so on and so forth, that is if you dont need or want to buy 50 - 100 dvds at a time for something you may only want 3 or 4 and dont have a burner yourself.

Well thats what I would do, heh :)
