She probably like the animation style of FLCL, but I don't know if she like the other Gainax's series.HungryCrackPot wrote:That's a VERY generalized answer, encompasing MANY different types of anime. You might as well have said "I like JAPANESE japanese anime".ansem'skitty wrote:Gainax....
Honestly, if you don't like something enough to know what it is or who made it, then you probably don't like it that much.

Not sure 'bout Azumanga, I should really get more information about it. but Utena sure is a shoujo. It has everything a shoujo normally has (in my opinion). The guys, the girly looks, the obssession with the colour pink, complex story about romance, pokemon-like mascott (a shounen with that monkey just won't be the same. o-0; ) and Xtreme girl power. Without trying to be rude.kearlywi wrote:Shoujo is girls anime. Shoujo often features girls in positions of power (for example the heroes are often all female in Shoujo anime). Fan service or any Echi humor is banned from Shoujo anime. Any nudity/sexual situations is not humorous but serious, at least its intended to be. An example of a well known shoujo anime is sailor moon. Shoujo anime is rare because Shoujo is mostly about what the anime doesnt have than what it has. For example, Chobits might seem like a shoujo anime at first glance, but because the main character is male, is surrounded by attractive (but capable) females, and because the show just occasionally has some very light sexual humor, it is actually considered to be categorically shonen anime, despite the fact that it is a very light hearted romantic anime and is written/made by women (clamp).asrrin29 wrote:hey thanks, I saw some examples givien of Shounen, but can anyone tell me some examples of Shoujo? oh and the more well known the better, because I am not to good with obscure anime references
I'm not sure (because I have'nt seen them yet), but I'm guessing Azumanga Daioh and Utena are Shoujo animes as well.
I hope that helps.
I know they also mentionned it's a shoujo in the manga/manga editor webpage.
Or I'm truly mistaking it for something else, but I don't think so.
Actually, What makes a shoujo or a shounen is in which magazine it first appeared. If a manga was meant to attract more girls than boys but is still published in a shounen magazine, it'll be called a shounen.
Of course, there are the things which make the difference between the two pretty obvious but the magazine says it all.
I like Kenshin's style, Angel Sanctuary, Cowboy Bebop, Babel II (the latest TV series, check the website Kaze.fr wallpapers section and see what I mean.), Rose of Versailles, Trigun, Senkaiden Houshin Engi, DN Angel and other shounens I don't remember. I think I've already named all the shoujo art styles I like.
Though I hate to admit it, I like Anthy's design.
