Gundam always struck me as more WWIish then WWII, there would be these regal parties behind the lines, Zion in the 0078 war looked a lot like German Huns. o.O: But the Japanese had almost no real involvement in WWI.
I've been watching Gundam Wing these past few days, and it keeps annoying me that the most common tactice for AC universe combat is 'Stand and shoot in one direction untill you die, however, if you are about to die you have permission to take a few steps backward before you are shot'.
The UC world is a lot more like WWI. While there are the great soldiers, shooting back at each other while lots of bullets going everywhere ('No mans land' anyone?) and the great capital ships shooting at each other similar to naval wars. I'm also reminded of 18-19th century warfare what with the use of very 'colorfull' units and ships rather then camofloge.
However, I would like to see a Gundam UC short in the style of Saving Private Ryan, Band Of Brothers, and Black Hawk Down, that very realistic warefare rather then the Gundam Rambo stuff.

well I can say for the first statement of the forum that you would be flamed by all those who have loved Gundams. But not me though, though I can surpress that. The Gundam series talks about more than just fight after fight after battles after battles. They talk about the psycology behind war and peace. If you pay attention to it. Sure I can say I know a lot of it but not enough to make me as much of a fanatic as others i've known.
It is not as corny as you think if you look at it from a different perspective.
Wars have big impact of everyone, even if you dont realize it.
Wars are everywhere and are a part of our life.

And man...u need to watch more Gundam shows. how can u say they're isnt scenes of the "terrors" of war. in a few scenes they show ppl truely dying. getting shot, blood, blow apart, the screams and cries of war. How can you say that Gundam doesn';t cover some of it. Sure it might mit have everything but it is never always one sided.
the gundam series tells us one inportant thing about war that we've overlooked a lot of times. That in wars there are never really "good guys" and "bad guys" and that the ppl u thought that were good guys were actually the bad and the ones u thought were bad were actually good.
And though the Gundam series is not like a WWII movie like "Saving Private Ryan" where brains splatter and bodies get blown to pieces but it shows enough to put a point.

With the thought as war comes it seems that it is the young that fights the new wars as the draft rate goes down.
It a war protrayed in Gundam-Wing, wars holds no bounds for age levels. Wars affect all lives old and young. Those who choice to fught makes their own dicisions in life.
The few in Gundam-Wing that are young men around the ages of 15-16 are those whose lives were affected so greatly that we ordianary young men and women might not be able to imagine. Why they fight is not because they were drawn young in the anime, it is because of the storyline and that they had no choice.
I can ask anyone to try to imagine a life of war. Born in a world where there is not true peace and that war is outside our front doorsteps.
