For a an editor fresh to the world of video editting, self-criticism is a very important step toward progressing your skill and understanding of how to make videos that others will enjoy. If an editor takes the time to review their own work, label pros and cons, and be honest with the numbers they give themself I really have no reason to argue that what they are doing is wrong or unethical.

As ErMaC noted, once you start getting reviews from other people who are addressing the same points that you have with the video, the "need" to write and post your own review should start becoming a mute issue. At this point, it is probably just as good to use your ability to respond to other people's reviews by writing a response that addresses the pros and cons they have with your work.

It's only when they use a self review to pad their score that I might be upset. Honestly, I can't see that I've seen that many instances of such abuse. Anyway, most people are probably more prone to creating a fake account to pad their review than to use their primary.

It is important to assess your own vid. But it is pointless and stupid to paste the op on the site.

well since i've done the self-reviewing thing myelf, i can see why ppl would do it, but here are my reasons for doing it, keeping in mind though, that i don't do it anymore, i just know better now

1- i can see the whole self-evaluation thing going, it's good to understand what ur own pros and cons are

Counterpoint- this is really only necessary when ur still a noob editor, once you begin to understand what the hell ur doing, it's really not necessary anymore (example ErMaC) the opinions (or praise) of others is just as good as ur own

2- some ppl seem to think that if you give them an opinion that doesn't meet their requirements in points, that you somehow think you're better than them, so they will watch ur videos and criticize you for ur own videos and ask why you scored them so low when you can't do any better
(this happened to me, so i reviewed my own videos so the guy would shut the hell up and see that i don't think my current videos are better than his)

Counterpoint- anything you need to say about ur video really should go into the video description, you can even make a place in the description for Good/Bad points and General Comments if you're feeling spunky!

so in the end, i don't see it necessary to opinion ur own video since that's what the video description/information page is for, eventually someone will opinion you so unless ur an impatient anal retentive bum-knuckle, don't opinion urself just to get on some list with the IN crowd.
If you're reading this, you've gone too far...PREPARE FOR RETRIBUTION!!
Don't judge an AMV by it's anime.. u nooB ;D
