What about us..?

Post by Maximo » Mon Dec 15, 2003 9:21 pm

i posted this at Demonseal so i figured i'd put it here to.

I love making AMVs i really do, its fun, but it is getting old really fast.
So i have been working on Music vids using actual MOVIES, one i am working on is coming along quite well. Im putting alot of time and effort into this vid, but you know what i was wondering? When i get finished WTF am i supposed to go with this!?!?! there is no MMV.ORG site out there. And say i do decide to post a link. I can't post it on the AMV Annoncement page on either one of theses forums cause its not a ANIMATED MUSIC VID, and i don't and also can't because it isn't here anymore  put it in the the off topic forum for fear of it just being lost in the shuffle of all the mindless garbage that flows threw there. Whats a guy supposed to do :?

Buy some hosting, make a site, and throw it on there?
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

Do you think that people only started making and releasing AMVs once the org showed up? What do you think they did before then? Showed it to friends, at parties, put em on their personal sites, etc.

And if such a site is so important to you, nobody's stopping you from making it yourself.

There are also several mailing lists on the subject, so look into that if you like as well.

Fanvids (as they're called) with live-action movies tend to have a lower profile than AMVs, because the companies that hold the copyrights for their source take a more active interest in *ahem* reducing this kind of thing than anime companies do. We're lucky in that anime companies don't seem to care. They're often not so lucky.

I lurk around the LJ vidding community and one of the MLs, and while you'll probably go bonkers in there (there's a much lower tolerance for special effects... much), it's an interesting parallel world.

But anyway, you got fanflix.com's addy, you're off to a good start. The community seems to be very friendly and down-to-earth, and there's very little ego-puffery and grandstanding. They're good with answering questions.
