I make notes as I'm going along, recording the technical stuff and the script commands I used. I also keep a running to-do list of things I still want to do, and a diagram of all the bars in the song, which I cross off as I add video to them. When all the bars are crossed off and all the issues on the to-do list have been dealt with, I know I'm done.
