I am working on a specific project, and it involves ripping some fansub DVDs. These DVD's have audio on them in .mpa format, which is mpeg audio. Now, I can encode the video using XviD and just direct stream copy the audio, and it will be understood by most players. Windows Media Player and ZOom Player, etc... basically any DirectShow player can play back the .mpa sudio stream. However, standalone players like DivX player don't understand the .mpa audio. I'd much rather be able to convert this audio into something more compatible, such as mp3. however, the problem is, no program I have tried that claims to be able to do such a thing seems to be able to do it (i.e. it outputs a wav that's just static noise), and VirtualDubMod, which is the only video program that recognizs the stream, won't recompress it (It says there's no decompressor).
My best lead is an AVISynth plugin called MPASource, btu really, I think that just streams the MPA source, and wouldn't help in it's conversion. (Am I wrong there? right?)
Anyway, ideally, if there is a way that anyone out there knows to convert .mpa to ANYTHING (wav, mp3, aiff, riff, ogg, ANYTHING), let me know. It would be highly appreciated.
