Animix Coding Problems

Post by TnAdct1 » Thu Nov 27, 2003 12:49 pm

Today, I decided to finally download the first part of the AniMix Project. After downloading it and watching it, I'm very interested in downloading the other two parts. However, there's one problem that I have: my download of it has the video becoming blocky at some parts throughout the video. I tried installing the most recent DivX codec, and it still has those problems. Any idea how to fix this (or if I should re-download this file). Keep in mind that this problem has happened in only one other video that I downloaded (Walter Scott's "Gollum's Song" video).

An update to this: I checked this video out on Virtual Dub and DivX Player, and both of them played the video fine. Thus, the problem is more about the blockiness when this video is played on Windows Media Player (and I'm hoping to save this video and the other AniMix videos as part of a playlist).

:? Well Animix 1 was encoded with a stable release of Xvid, with a DivX fourcc, using the "simple" method for Xvid encoding in A&E's guide...

I think it plays fine on most computers...

I've had the same problem with some other XVid videos, and I don't know what solved it...
Try to download a Xvid codec, and change the video's fourCC to XVid ?
Maybe exporting the video with virtualdub (but with "direct stream copy") could solve it too :?

I think this thread belongs to the "video help" forums, you'll get better answers there (mods, can you move it ? thx)
