Read Or Die
I decided to get into or die recently, the OVA captivated me absolutly, if it hadn't been for Ms. Deeps deep clevage, it could almost had passed for a shoujo series. I saw there had been a TV series, I squealed, expecting either a new story in the same setting with the same characters, or a continuation. To my dismay I find fanservice a new character set and a change in style, even the way paper gets used has changed. I've only gotten in 3 eps of the TV series so far, but it seems to lack in comparison of the OVA.

Well it's different. Different set of characters = different story. I think it follows closer to the manga at least where Joker's personality is concerned, he's just crazy. And I really don't recall any kind of fan service, except for that full frontal nude scene in eps. 9.
I like the variety of paper use, but there really isn't alot of action. It's more character driven. The OVAs were hyperactive because they were only 3 eps. This has to stretch out to 26.
It's about half way through and it's starting to get very interesting. Yes you have to muddle through a lot of dead episodes but it's building up to something.

Various juggle-age, not to mention the pre-teen panty shots in Ep 4.And I really don't recall any kind of fan service
The series feels like 'Onegai Teacher' really, the girls seem to be stupid, and they feel it's necessary to strip down to a hybrid of a bathing suit and chinese dress so as to fight crime. The three sisters seem to be pretty stupid in comparison to Yomiko from the OVA, bothers me.

Are you possibly referring to ep 5 (or ep 6, I don't recall...the one where they infiltrate the castle on the lake and fight the guy who battles with sound)? If so, that wasn't exactly their choice in the matter.DJ_Izumi wrote:...and they feel it's necessary to strip down to a hybrid of a bathing suit and chinese dress so as to fight crime.
The Sisters are rather poor, you see, so to save some money, they put their paper powers to use and made their clothes out of paper. Problem is, they can't use wet paper. So when they fell into the lake in that episode, they lost their paper clothes, revealing what they wear underneath. To my recollection, it hasn't happened again yet (except maybe during the climax of episode 9). Their typical battle outfits are the ones seen in the splash image on the official website, which are actually fairly conservative.
Also, I keep seeing people saying that the series has nothing to do with the OVA...but am I only one who sees that it has everything to do with the OVA?
