How much does the song matter in a video

Post by Setra » Wed Nov 19, 2003 3:34 pm

Think about it. What comes first. Inspiration from a song, or from the series itself?? I'm sure for each video its different, and that each creator has a different experience with what inspires what.

But how important is song selection?? I don't think one would make an action AMV and use a counrty song for the music.

If you have an idea, but the song doesn't work well for your idea, but you really like the song, what should you do?? Should you scrap the song and go with one that fits better.

Should the video change for the song, or the song change for the video??

don't try to use a song you like if it doesn't work. you'll just end up hating the song.

in time you'll come up with an idea that the song you like works with.

song selection usually isn't too important, as long as you know what you want to do with whatever song you choose. just don't use "bring me to life". j/k i don't care if you use that overused song.

Actually, the songs usually inspire my ideas. I have a lot of trouble thinking of an idea, then finding the right song. As far as musical composition goes, most of the mainstream American stuff(pop, rock, rap, etc.) from the last 10 years is just too crude lyric wise for me to enjoy working with. 21st century music(not just the lyrics) leaves a lot to be desired IMHO. Anyone else notice this, or is it just me? :?

However, I do find a lot of music from anime soundtracks works for me, though. I'm finding techno music that works as well. Actually, maybe I simply don't like too many lyrics interfering with my ideas.

Music is everything! You can make the same kind of cuts (or different) with various shows; no matter how fancy or clever your edits, if the music sucks or you don't like it, it's dead. Period.

Same.

But every now and then, I also look at top amv lists. 'Tis how I found Euphoria, for instance, and I probably wouldn't have found it otherwise.

I talk to lots of the big creators, so I know when something that great comes along. I even saw a couple betas for Euphoria. I downlaoded it the day koop told me it was out.
