About the non-online anime music video contests

Post by liveordie56 » Wed Nov 12, 2003 6:57 pm

Hmmm...not sure if this belongs here but yea, just wanted to ask a question, Are the contests that are in hotels in junk, if you enter do you have to attend the convention, or can you enter and see if you win and not enter? :?

I don't believe any convention competition *requires* that you be registered in order to attend. However, it's common courtesy that you should at least try to be there. It was kinda dissapointing at Anime Boston when maybe 2 or 3 out of the 7 winners actually came onstage to accept trophies. The guys behind "that goddamned Yatta! vid" got chewed out by many for "trolling," as they entered their AMV into pretty much every convention this year, and only attended Otakon (which they didn't make the finals of).

So, support the convention. If you want to enter a contest, consider registering (or even donating money), even if you aren't attending. Anime cons take lots of organizing and money to get off the ground, and they deserve your support.

Technically, two of the three of them were girls...

Doesn't JACON also require them to be new entries that have not competed elsewhere?

Yep... But then again JACON attracks a lot of AME editors (well, hell..it's FLordia, North America's playground)...

It would be hard to maintain the same rules at some cons...
