How do you do the proprietary thingy?

Post by azulmagia » Sun Nov 02, 2003 10:50 pm

By that I mean:

a) The thingy at beginning/end of the amv where you give the name of your studio and/or video.

e.g. Schmuck Studios presents "Hamtaro is a Schmuck" Music: "I'm a schmuck, you're a schmuck" by John Schmuck and the Schmucks
Anime: Hamtaro

and

b) The watermark at the corner of amv

Just curious how these are done.

Well, a) is simple if it's a still image, or even an image with a fade. All you do there is draw up something, scan it into your computer if necessary, and plug that image into Premiere. For a fade, you just use multiple images, and whichever fade transition you want. It works the same way with words, as long as you save the text as an image file.

For a video intro it probably works the same way, except you have to make your own video clip for this which is a bit harder than a still image.

As for b), well I've never done a watermark, but it's probably some effect in Premiere or After Effects.

Just make up a image in whatever image programe you have (MSpaint..etc) and try to import the .jpg (or bitmap whatever) into windows movie maker as a single frame. (note: I don't use WMM but this should work or just see if you can add text in WMM directly)

The watermark is probably just an image (.gif or a photoshop import that supports transparencies) that has been faded on top of the video stream.

same as your video... otherwise it won't fit.

Just go to one of your source files and right click properties and it will give you the dimensions in pixels

I'm not doing a video....quite yet. I have couple of good ideas but there's no glory in suggesting somebody else do them...so those questions were hypothetical ones......

.......for now!!

I used WMM2 before, it comes with a built in title maker, where you can put in titles, with templates include, to solid colors or background .jpg's, and even video if you are patient enough. It is not the most sophisticated title maker, but it is pretty good for being free. Me? I switched to adobe after my last AMV, so the next one I turn out (which is 90% done, just have to peer edit it) is all made in adobe and all that good crap.

I have tried all the different kind of intro's and the one I like best is a classic white text at the corner like a real music video you would see on MTV or something. Looks just right for me. Hope I helped some.
