Now that the ORG has hosting, the newbies have it easy to upload anything, including their favorite AMVs. Most of the time, they don't understand that you upload your own videos, not your favorites or someone else's. Other times however, it's people trying to get credit for something they did not do.
but that's not what they did..they did a vid themselves and more or less ripped off her vid (granted they did their own editing and such but the idea was still the same..even down to the name)..which btw Caliet did a MUCH better job of...
Some of the scenes are exactly the same even :?

yay, finally an honest opinion of this stuff. I asked the same thing in Vid Suggestions and everybody's like "Oh, it's perfectly okay."

Otherwise, what Pie Row said...

Hehe although I haven't posted in awhile, I've been lurking and downloading everyone's great videos. I wish I had time to still make some myself!

I don't think it's perfectly okay, although I certainly don't own any part of that video....I just think it's uncool to borrow from another video without giving credit or acknowledgement to the first video. i wouldn't have even known but someone tipped me off in a review I got a few days ago. Eh, not such a big deal, it is flattering that he liked it so much (or should I say insulting that he thought it needed to be improved so much? :) )

Um, I think this thread is about using edited footage from other videos and touting the result as a new video the person did him/herself without giving the original editor credit... not quite the same as your thread.

I know, but it's the same basic idea: stupid newbs trying to poach off editors with infinitely more skill than they have.

Not giving credit, however, is an issue all on its own, and I'm all for the sound beatings when it comes to cases like that. :P

Don't quite see how it's poaching in your case; the editors didn't write the music, and (usually) creator X (hmm, that sounds like a movie!) doesn't know what creator Y's vid's concept or presentation is like until it's finished, so you can't say X was stealing Y's ideas.

...not the point. But this is off the topic of this thread anyway, and I'd like to never mention that thread again.

*runs away*
