Initial D DVD

Post by skanks » Wed Oct 08, 2003 10:42 pm

How come no body mentioned that Initial D is out!
That It’s coming out in Australia soon I assume it’s already out in America and what not.
It’s a good thing that anime isn’t mainstream because that is one of the most influential animations I’ve ever seen. I know blokes who’ve seen that and then run out and bought done up jap cars like Skylines and RX7’s and go on about how they drift and what not. Even myself after watching that series and getting in my car.. When that corner approaches…. I just don’t seem to want to slow down…
 Luckily Australia’s mainstream society are white people dressing up like clowns and pretending their black gangsters while driving around in a HSV (Holden’s) who only really speed in-between lights and Sunday drive around corners. Idiots should stick to that me thinks.
The fan subs for Initial D were terribly quality and I can’t wait to get the DVDs!!
If anyone hasn’t seen it I would recommend it. Unless it’s on cartoon network.
*imagines censored drifting and cringes*

Whats the dubs like I wonder...

From what I heard, Initial D is being licensed by Tokyopop. Also I heard they're replacing most of the music by Move and such with some other forms (that INCLUDES the opening and ending songs; someone doesn't want to pay royalties :? ). And the character names are being CHANGED like for example Takumi is going to be changed into Tak or something like that. :?

I have the DVD. The rental store I get anime from reserved me a copy and let me buy it two days before it was supposed to be released. Good price. it cost me $15.

The opening and closings are there. Yes, the dubs use the stupid American names. I can't stand the dub for this and it's just bad, IMO. The names are still intact for the subtitles.

No one mentioned it because sadly very few people have seen it.

I personally loved the show and already have the first disc and the second is on the way.

As for the Tokyo Pop distro...ugh. They have this "enhanced" version which is actually the opposite of that since they changed all the names and even took out scenes (at least according to the animeondvd.com review). Apprently the "enhanced" part is the sound (5.1).

I wouldn't know since I watch my anime subbed and knew this prior. I just watch "normal" and it looks the same as what I saw earlier.

What does suck is it's only 3 episodes a disc and at that pace, it'll easiliy be 13 discs (with 2nd stage). It sucks even more the first disc ends RIGHT BEFORE his race with Keisuke.

Nah, I bet they're following the 3-3-3-4 per 13 episode format, so I'm guessing 12 discs for the 1st and 2nd Stages.

It does, but 2nd stage is 13 more episodes. I have a feeling they're going to be stupid and make it all one "run."

Along with what Andy said, I guess they'll have two discs with 4 episodes somewhere in there, but I'm a bit worried since it's usually the first two discs (to get people into it) and the first had 3.
