There's LOTS of reasons. One of them is there certain laws that restrict certain things that can be shown on TV, which is known as CENSORSHIP.

Another is our culture since a majority of people considered anime (or better yet, almost anything animated) a "kids show". I could give a lot more details, but I have homework and don't have time to research this.

I dont think they actually give a shit what they show children now adays they are just worried that parents will start to boycott the channel and products that are promoted on the network. I think that its fine to censor things for cable but I hate that people think of anime as a childs cartoon. Censorship doesn't bother me anyways, I like to collect anime just as much as watching it *points to link to DVD collection* so I always buy anime on DVDs. There aren't any animes shown on tv that I cant buy on DVD so I much rather buy it than suffer through commercials and censorship which affects plot lines *points at Rurouni Kenshin*
