Most of us don't consider a request for a serial number for programs particularly 'innocent'- As a general rule, asking for warez or serial numbers is rather frowned upon, and people have on occasion been banned for doing so or posting them excessively.

In the "Video Software Help" Forum there is a sticky near the top with a fairly comprehensive list of the programs that are typically used in video editing. Be it good or bad, there are generally very few that are truly free, and even fewer that are decent and for a Windows system. You can quite easily get started using Windows Media Maker or iMovie (if you have a Mac), but in reality when you want to do more advanced stuff you're going to have to shell out at least a bit of money. There are some people here who make amazing videos with $50-$60 programs, shelling out the several hundred for Premiere isn't always necessary.

Unfortunately, AMV editing is not a particularly inexpensive hobby- after the base costs of the hardware and software with which to edit, there is also the cost of the audio and video sources for the videos. However, iit is- at least in my opinion- a rather rewarding and fun hobby, and I wish you the best of luck!

Anything here. And beyond.

With emphasis on the "anything".

With emphasis on the EMPHASIS of "anything".

People seem to lock their video editing choices down to a very small set. Really, there's a whole world of choices out there, and it all really depends on what you like to use. Hell, you can use two VCRs to make AMVs if you want. Here's an example of a really good AMV made with that method.

By using Free Software (yes I'm a whore, so sue me), "Special Edition", or free trials of software, you can get a feel for what you work best with.

Too often people say stuff like "OMGWTF USE {PREMIERE, FINAL CUT} PRO IT DOES MY LAUNDRY AND MY HAREM" or "KOOP MADE U4EUH IN MAGIX HAHE ROFFLE ROFFLE I WANT THAT". It doesn't work that way. As far as AMVing is concerned, the best equipment for you is the equipment that you like.

So go out there and do some research :P
