Thanks for all the input!
Here is what I have so far:
Particle Man (wasn't on the .org but was referenced enough that I looked it up on winmx)
Fight Club - This is your life (Melzer - Chen - Tao)
All purpose DBZ video (Meri)
Slugfest Can Can (meri)
Fathers and Sons (akimbo)
Turn the Page (doomrider)
Duel of Fates (majin assasin)
MyResolution (dannypoo) - ironically a low rez file
What you got (NeoGohan)
Shout (LightningCountX)
This is culled from a substantially larger number that I've downloaded. So far most of the stuff reccomended as a reply to the topic has been better than the videos that I found so again, thanks everybody.
I'm sure this list is far from being a 'definitive' DBZ list. So if I missed anything really obvious let me know. I'll burn the high rez ones to DVD to show in my video club next week, and let my students decide. the others I'll just put on a few mini-disks. I'm hoping that they'll take the inspiration and start making 'real' videos. Anyway, I have till Tuesday night to keep looking.
In response:
I haven't really seen any DBZ stuff that is effects laden, the MOST use of effects I've seen in these videos is using actual sound from an episode, and some clever editing. Guess the series just doesn't inspire that sort of thing.

I stand behind it as an example. It shows excellent editing without an overreliance on digital effects, and has a progressive use of matched instead of repeated footage. You don't have to have seen the show to 'get' what the point of the video is. Having not watched DBZ I'm not going to 'get' what all the little elements of story are about unless its self evident in the video. Hence videos like 'Turn the page' and 'cancan slugfest' are good for me.SQ wrote:

And from that day, I was so glad I never cared about Kevin Caldwell.

Caffeine Encomium is good, different and funny.SQ wrote:madbunny wrote:Don't flame me into a cinder here.
I want to know if anybody can post a link to a couple of actually 'good' DBZ videos. Virtually everyone in my class wants to make one, but I can't seem to find many decent examples, much less good ones. You know, NOT downloaded footage, NOT stuff with subtitles. Music that isn't compressed into 64kbit mpeg. Real Video files that look like crap with huge pixelation. I can even live with Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit as the music, although ideally there should be someone out there who didn't just remake every other DBZ clone.
When I think of good, I think of stuff like Euphoria, and Caffine Encomium.. please tell me that as popular as DBZ is someone has managed to put something together in that league.
I'm not what you would call a fan of the series, so don't get all upset because I didn't recognize some characters name in a title on the top 100.
If this is something already covered, then just a link or even a point in the right direction.
Thanks
