Don't forget, too, that it is your patriotic duty to spend, spend, spend on gifts, on this day, because the economy needs your money! Of course, this duty is second to paying your taxes, because, you know, you can't have all this freedom and homeland security without paying for it!

I sent Dannywilson a canned ham and some fresh peaches. I sure hope those peaches are as fresh and delicious when they arrive in two weeks as they are now!

So folks, kick back, take some time off, turn on the Christmas lights, give gifts, have a BBQ, shoot guns in the air (nothing over .38 caliber, please!), and I think there's something about remembering something, but hey, I'm not sure.

Happy September 11th, soon to be the greatest holiday ever!
Thank you for the enlightening post Mr. Wynand.

Your only the second person I have seen to know about that.

Going a bit off-topic here, but I quess it fits with coup in chile. I recently watched a documentary 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised' about attempted Venezuelan Coup. More than else, it was a fascinating story about the power of media, for good and bad.

Watching people like George Tenet and Jesse Helms (And Colin Powell + Ari Fleischer) renouncing Hugo Chavez who they obviously deemed a dangerous element & mad autocrat, was pretty disgusting to watch. They probably thought they could spin the story and Chavez would go the way of Allende.

Then the coup did not go as planned and usurpers were hauled away by palace guard after hundreds of thounsands of Venezuelans came to streets and demanded the return of a democratically elected president.

After all this, Colin Powell was explaining US had nothing to do with the whole thing, no sir, we had just continuously barraged him with false accusations. (and keep doing it....)

I wonder when US considers returning Pedro Carmona (president for a day) to Venezuela? I'm sure he is wanted for trial back there after escaping from house arrest.

That coup also started on the 11th day, but this time democracy won. I quess we can all learn something from that.

For who is the autocrat? Today, there are hundreds of people held in detention without charges in George Bush's United States. In Venezuela, there are none. - Greg Palast

I could have given my opinions, but if you cares, view them here.

9/11 1973: Coup in Chile.
9/11 2001: Attac on WTC and Pentagon.
9/11 2003: Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs Anna Lindh dies of her wounds caused by stabbing the day before.
Are we detecting a pattern here?

9/11 1981 -The planets were in a certain rare alignment on that day, causing some to predict that as a day of massive cataclysms that will begin the process of the end of the world (predictors included my own mentor, Robert Fripp, who wrote
"September 11 because it's a very symbolic date in astrology. I'm not personally awfully fluent in astrology, but it's the day when the planets line up in the solar system and would therefore seem to be symbolic and appropriate, and because I sense in the autumn of 1981 we're going to see a watershed in some particular way. I'm not sure which, there could be many possibilities. It could be for example the abolition of the motorcar as a form of viable transport. Or petrol rationing so severe that the same is effectively the case. It could be the slide of the dollar, it could be any number of different reasons in a complex world. But it would be enough to bring home to a middle-aged waitress that her cultural milieu has irrevocably changed.").

Of course, it seems they weren't really wrong, just missed the date by exactly 20 years.

All that really happened on that day was the Stones playing at the Hardfort Civic Center.

9/11 1988 - Edgar C. Whisenant declared Jesus' return in his book "88 Reasons Why The Rapture Will Occur On September 11, 12 or 13, 1988".

9/11 1999 - Philip Berg of the Kabbalah Learning Center has predicted that a great ball of fire will hit earth on this day. However, if enough individuals enlighten and purify themselves with Berg's teachings, the disaster may be eliminated.

But, of course, we all know that there's only 365 days in the year, which means any date possible has already been predicted to be the end of the world by someone...

Condolences to the Swedes BTW, sad story for your country.

If it is my country you say it is a sad story for; I am a Norwegian. On the other hand; it may be a greater difference between a Chinese and another Chinese, than between a Norwegian and a Swede or a Dane, or even a German or a Dutch.

Oh no, don't worry, I read your location. I'm a linguist and an avid geography-lover, so I darn well know the difference (in fact, what I've learned in class was pretty well that exact example - Norwegian vs. Swedish and Chinese vs. Chinese!).

I wasn't referring to you specifically; rather, to the Swedish members of the forum - I believe there's at least a few. It was a general reference, not to your post - I thought I'd need to mention that eventually.
