Post by El Banana » Sun Aug 31, 2003 2:26 am

Eh, I guess this is as good a place as any to ask.

In Desperado: can anyone here identify that double-barreled gun he carried?

Apparently it's a "red 'X' of death." That's a .54 cal if I'm not mistaken.

If I had to guess, I would say it's a sawed down 12 gauge side by side shotgun. But that's just my gut feeling.

<a href="http://www.caratuleo.com/b/bso_-_desper ... >Here's</a> a larger pic, if anyone wants to hazard a better one...

That seems like a fair guess, what ammo does it use?

Well, i dunno about that gun, but others used in the movie i belive were TMP's(Tactical Machine Pistols), .45 Ingram Mac-10 SMG's, Berrettas 9mm, and i believe I saw one of the goons with a M16.

12 gauge shotgun shells, probably the most common type out there. The smaller the gauge number, the bigger the shell. 12 gauge shotgun shells come in three sizes: 2 3/4", 3", and 3 1/2". Not all shotguns can use all sizes.

A picture of a 2 3/4" 12 gauge shotgun shell:

In most cities and states, you can buy side by side, over/under, pump, and autoloading "sport" shotguns without a permit. You cannot, however, saw them down below the legal barrel length (18", as I recall) without registering said gun as an "AOW" (any other weapon) with the ATF and paying a $5 registration fee. You should talk to your local ATF and law enforcement groups about this, to make sure it's legal to do in your area, even with the ATF registration.
