1.Flint and steel
2. USMC Ka-Bar fighting knife
3. Taurus Tracker® .357 Magnum (8 round capacity)
4. Pre-1964 Winchester Model 70 in .375 Weatherby Magnum
5. A lifetime supply of brass, powder, and reloading equipment
Screw human companions. There's a chance I'd get stuck with some ditsy Christian chick, that I'd be forced to kill.

Why does the order surprise you? Confused why I'd put priority on the survival gear before the guns?Toecutter wrote:

The only thing here surprises me here is the order.
The Ka-Bar fighting knife is a beautiful weapon in itself, only surpassed by the Bowie knife, and the Kukri. The Ka-Bar itself can be used for far more than fighting.
As for the firearms themselves, the .357 Magnum comes first, because of it's excellent stopping power at long range, and it's almost flat trajectory (the .355 caliber slug has an extremely small bullet drop over 100 yards).
I'd take the handgun over the hunting rifle for one reason: concealability.
The Winchester Model 70 in .375 Weatherby Magnum can handle quite a range of game, including North American predators (cougar, brown bear, and on occasion with the proper aim, a grizzly or two). It's accuracy drops significantly over 200 yards, but considering it's muzzle energy, and the fact most prey are dropped at less than 100 yards, the .375 Weatherby is an excellent cartridge. It was invented as an attempt to improve the .375 H&H Magnum, and make the H&H fit into a short-action weapon.
Only if there were a choice of 10 things I could take, I'd make sure I'd have the following:
6). A Leupold M1-style tactical scope with Mil-Dot reticle (for accurate range estimation), with Weaver scope mounts.
7). Hoppes cleaning kit for the Model 70 Winchester
8). Hoppes cleaning kit for the .357 Magnum
9). TI-30X solar scientific calculator (for more accurate range estimation
10). Basic set of hand tools

In terrain like this, you'd better be off using a slide rule.Toecutter wrote: 9). TI-30X solar scientific calculator (for more accurate range estimation)
