DVD ripping: prob w/drive
I have a Poineer 16X DVD-ROM drive but whenever I rip a DVD, the speed never goes above 2.0x! Why is this? How can I fix it?

Make sure you have some ASPI Drivers installed. I remember reading something about the default XP communications layer being slow. Also if you have any stream processing going on(removing audio, subs from vob) that can sometimes slow you down a bit.
However, I have an 8X DVD-ROM and I get about 5.6 - 6X reads. So yours is kind of strange.
What program are you using?

You may just be stuck with the 2x ripping.
My fancy-schmancy Sony DVD burner does that too. It just plain won't read a DVD-Video disc faster than 2x.
The crusty old 6x Samsung drive I have as a slave on the same IDE channel in the same system will rip right up to its rated speed, so I doubt it's an ASPI issue.
