Trust me... There's too wide a profit margin for the industry to even be slightly bruised by bootlegs and downloaded movies.
And hey.. those people that record the movies ont heir camcorders for you do download? They paid the industry $7.25
hey, said people get their paycheck and cash it well in advance before the movie is released. the only people who dont get paid are the directors, the producers, and the actors, and whomever is high on the totem pole.Toecutter wrote:The movie ticket sales is what makes the money for the production company, who puts out the millions of dollars to pay all the set designers, animators, special-effects guys, etc. Without movie ticket sales, and the sales of VHS and DVD copies of the film once it comes out, the production company won't make a profit, and the workers won't get paid!
Piracy of films/tv shows/music robs people of their income, and slowly destroys our economy. Look at China! Everyone pirates software, music, videos, etc from the Japanese, us, the Europeans, and even themselves! Their economy is so shot to hell, if they didn't have their corrupt under-the-table deals and bribes, their country would've fallen apart just five years after the Cultural Revolution. Stealing is all they're good at, and is the only means for that country to function.
I never thought of it that wayGarylisk wrote:I work at a movie theater. Trust me, piracy isn't hurting the movie industry. We sell tiockets for $7.50, we get $0.25 of it, and the other $7.25 goes to the movie industry. Multiply that by BILLIONS.
