That's good news. With the amount of video entried I'm expecting this year for the 3 contests I'm surprised they'll have much time.

I know panels are shorter this year, so that helps things.

Hopefully. I heard that Masters was getting alot of submissions this year. You think they will cut alot of them out? Masters was only about 12 videos last year (if i remember correctly)

I guess to answer your original question:

Currently, the project is about 75% done. That's just individual tracks, that doesn't count the work that Brad, Quu (and probably Nightowl and Vlad) will have to put in to composite the whole thing together...that usually takes 2 or 3 days of nonstop work.

We're moving along and starting to pick up near-deadline momentum, so we'll definitely be all set for AWA....dunno about the VCD, though...last year we had to wait for ExpertDV to come through with a DVD first, which took until late December. If the DVDs sell faster this year, the DVD should come faster (if they still do the DVD).
I have no idea how to use this new forum.

I know this is slightly off topic but out of curiosity, how does someone get involved in the DDR Project?
I’d love to be involved in the 4th Project (assuming there will be a forth one of course!)

Get called on as a backup editor at the last minute :P

Actually, I think what they do is either (1) people from the previous DDR project have first pick on new tracks or (2) one big lottery...

Or (3) buy large bottles of Vodka at Hsien's request.

You got your track before that happened...I just consider it a bonus...a kickback, if you will

That's pretty much it. After a certain time, if people drop out, I mostly go by other editors' suggestions to pick backup editors. People like trythil get on because I feel sorry for what they have to do at upcoming conventions ;)

Oh I see! The veterans get first dips and afterwards if there are any extra openings or if someone drops out of the project other editors can suggest who they think would make a good backup editor. Therefore, in the end what it really comes down to is who you know in the AMV community.

Wait a sec… I don’t know anybody!

I wasn't really friends with many people on the DDR project, but I got picked in a random lottery for some remaining tracks in this year's project. In other words, I lucked out. I'm glad I did, though.. It's a fun project to be a part of :)
