The first part. One word as to why I dont let anyone see it till all parts are completed: Anticipation. If the editors are anticipating it it creates a "hype" of sort, which then translates into wider vid dissemination when it is released.danielwang wrote:I really don't get this, though it's apparent you have much more experience than I do.Dannywilson wrote:Another thing. I don't want my editors watching the whole video before it's completed. I usally host a beta when all parts have been uploaded to let the creators tell me if their part is off synchronization, if so, I then go back and fix it.
If that's the case, then that defeats the entire purpose of collaboration.
I just had *another* brilliant, but simple, idea for doing concurrent-stage design conferencing!Dannywilson wrote:I dare you to run a project like you've set up, with 20+ editors and watch how fast it falls to the ground. My money is on less than a month.
Send out preproduction DVDs.
Put all of the AMV authors on a conference phone call.
Talk about it.
The second part. Three words: Long distance charges. Lets not forget the sleep scheduals. I have had creators that can barely speak english even after translation with babelfish. I have editors from all around the world, and with time zones as they are, it makes the task even more daunting. If you are going to do something conference-wise, why not do a AIM or MIRC chat?
