Whats a domain? How do I set one up?

Post by DarkSchneider » Mon Jul 28, 2003 7:46 pm

Hi,

It's about that time that I expand on my websites, but I think now I'm in need of a domain. But the question is, I've never thought about it before, so how does a domain work, where and how can I set one up? Please, if someone can help me with this, I'd be grateful. Thanks!

A domain name basically a ".com" name. Like http://www.animemusicvideos.org. That's a domain name.

To get a domain, you need to register an available one. It's something like $35 for two years, last time I checked. You then need to point it to your website's IP address.

It's usually easiest to pay a dedicated hosting company to do all of this.
I'm out...

www.silowave.com can register and set up your domain in 2 days, for $10/yr

We can set up a domain for you very easily. It will cost only 10 dollars a year and it works like this. You buy the domain name, then when you decide were to host your website, you sign up and the webhost will give you a domain name server to apply to the domain you bought. This way yourdomain.com will be directed to the location of your website. Silowave.com can do all this for you as one of the cheapest hosts out there. Like I said, domain registration is 10 dollars a year (8.50 if you purchase webhosting from silowave.com)
