No, he admires them.

I've seen enough of his "behind the scenes" shit to know. He may make fun of it some times, but he really does love it with all his body, including his pee pee.

He sucks.

He can't come up with anything on his own.

He WORSHIPS anime. He would give his left nut to be Japanese.

HE SHOULD NOT BE THE BASIS ON WHICH AMERICAN ANIMATION IS JUDGED.
I noticed it too, Lune. I saw several anime-isms in the Teen Titans commercial. In particular, various exaggerated expressions and mannerisms that are more at home in anime than Western cartoons. It's hard to pin down, especially in a written medium like this. But the recent pop-culture obsession with all things Asian can be seen affecting animation the most clearly. Hence the "Japanization" of certain cartoons to be more like anime.

It's actually somewhat annoying. Personally, I watch cartoons and anime based on their individual merits. When I turn the channel to watch an American cartoon, I don't want to see a half-assed attempt at copying Japanese anime. The only one that comes close to getting it right is Samurai Jack, and that's because it's actually based on the old Akira Kurosawa movies, not anime

.....

But anime is also distinctly Japanese in the way it tells a story and presents the charcters. The art can be copied, but only the Japanese can give anime that unique feel. As with my previous example, Samurai Jack doesn't look anything like the "typical" anime art, but it does a wonderful job of capturing the feel of the old samurai movies. SJ has a sense of style and personality that really belongs to Kurosawa's movies. In this, Gennedy Tartakovsky succeeded in translating the feel of something Japanese to something American. But at first glance, Teen Titans tries to do it backwards. The art has a hint of anime, which isn't necessarilly unwelcome, but the obvious attempts at copying standard anime mannerisms fails miserably. TT may be a good cartoon on it's own merit, but that's exactly why it shouldn't try to immitate anime. Leave that to Tartakovsky ^__^
But then,
Not all anime is good. A lot of it is crap. And there are several of American shows I think are cooler than some anime. However, "cartoon trying to copy anime" is most definitely a synonym for "bad."
Interesting. I'd certainly have to agree...

I had no idea that there was any intentional relation or inspiration from the Kurosawa movies and Samurai Jack. However, Samurai Jack is unique in and of itself. And, it's actually good.

Thanks, Xanthrax!

Remember, Daniel Wang is your *ONLY* source for guraranteed 137% bullshit. Whether it's cheated statistics, flawed reasoning or just plain lying, buy Daniel Wang bullshit and you *WILL* be disappointed, guaranteed!

If BullShit, aka Net B.S. D, is enough to run a M*c, it's certainly good enough for the Off-Topic forum.

5 thumbs?

Well, in certain ancient civilizations a thumb down actually was positive, so I'll take that as a huge compliment.

Man, that just sounded pretty stupid. Kracus, you should have said that you give it two middle fingers up, and Danielwang, you should have said that you now recognize that hate hurts.

i like dexter's lab.

it made fun of all the weird, stupid, unusual, and just plain out there stuff that happened in life while i was growing up.

It also paid homage to many many staples of that era too.

"its morphin time!"
"Whatchoo talkin bout dexter?"
"The groove train and big daddy fat."

i'm convinced if you're just old enough, but not too old, you'll think the jokes are stupid, or just not get them, and you'll hate the series.

Dexter has a very. . . .Lum feel to it in its episodic 'punchlines'.
