OK I need all of you guys to help me

Post by Garylisk » Thu Jul 17, 2003 12:36 am

I can't decide what forum this goes in, but it has most to do with AMVs.

Here's the thing. I am in charge of the anime room at a local con called Archon (It's actually the biggest con in the midwest.. anyway).

We'll be having a lot of AMV stuff this year. One thing we'll be doing is a kind of top 20 countdown thing of the 20 favorite AMVs.

Needless to say, I will be getting the information for those 2 faves from this site's "top 30 favorite" list.

That list is based on every user's personal "top 100" list.

So, for accuracy's sake, what I am asking of you guys, is to make sure that your favorite AMVs list is accurate for the first 20 vids that are on it. (In other words, make sure those 20 vids really are your 20 favorite vids.)

I'd ask you to be honest about it, and to spread the word to other users so they update or at least check their lists for accuracy.

Don't have a list? Make one!

I know that it doesn't seem like such a big deal, but it's a big deal to me, so any help is appreciated.

I'll be grabbing the list and setting up the AMV lineup for the con countdown either this weekend or next weekend, so try to get your lists up to date ASAP, PLEASE!

Thanks so much. :)

And hey, I just updated my own list. It took, like, 10 minutes. It's not that hard :)

Just do it! 8) heh heh heh...

Oh man, you're doing the same thing I did during my stint in a college anime club officer. I was in charge of the "break tape" (not that secretary has anything do with that, but I made it one day to fill the 20 minute break one day) for three years and showed A TON of AMVS (all before I became a creator).

Every year I had a top 20 AMVs as well. Given it wasn't as "scientific and I just listed my top 20, but it went over real well every year. In fact, the break tape was some times more popular than some of our shows.

Nice to know other clubs do this. Given, I knew other clubs showed AMVs, but funny how you're doing a top 20 too.

Good luck!

(and yes my top AMVs is accurate :-P).

Thanks. Still, I am pretty confident... I was in charge of the room last year, and most of the people who visited the room said that it was the best anime room they'd seen at Archon ever.

This year, we're hoping to make the anime room rival other attractions.

Hell.. Last year, we scheduled the DDR Project accross from the grand masquerade, one of the big events at the con... The room was packed. People came to see the DDR project instead of the Masq.

I was freaked out by that. :P

Oh man, I re-read that and didn't realize it was a con. Sorry man. Mine was our local anime club (as I wrote). Given it's similar in the concept.

At the same time, this is gonna sound like bragging sorry, but our club had 800 members and had at least 200 - 300 members each saturday showing. I believe we were #2 at one point only to Duke (I THINK)...stupid Kusoyaro :-P. So yeah, it was quite awesome showing AMVs to ppl like that. The creators of the videos should be happy too since well..they got great responses from hundreds :-P. So similar I guess...I'm rambling.
