Yikes man. If you really think that about anime, it begs the question... why are you here? Sounds to me like you hate anime.

P.S. Not all anime are what you said. There are animes that are "just for kicks" and not full of fanservice. Though fanservice is part of anime and is in a lot of them, but if you complain about it, you best start questioning your sexuality cause it's just not healthy to not appreciate good fanservice.

I am still trying to figure the whole of Lain right now, Of course I made the mistake of watching them when I was REAL tired and I didn't get all the information in my head.

Of course, as much as I like Lain, I do have a conceptual art book for the series and it shows some cool pics that can shed some light on the show, and it has a small short manga in it showing her disecting a stuffed dog and filling it with NAVI parts and it comes to life and talks to her. I could tell you more, but I cannot read Japanese, so I don't kow what they are saying.

I've heard if you watch the last 2 DVDs first, and the first 2 last. It's prefectly clear. shmae that's not how I watched it.

I like anime because it's far more adult than half the crappy live-action tv shows on the air, like "Mutant X", or "Andromeda", or some of these ridiculous Pamela Anderson tv shows. Even the more serious stuff is just an attempt to make money off of the popular trends, like the whole "bullet-time" thing. The most political stuff on tv is so liberal and politically-correct, all heroes like Walker: Texas Ranger do is beat the crap out of white supremacists, and rich business men, playing on the hate of the powerful by the blue-collar workers.

The only stuff I watch other than anime is the Fox News Channel, the History Channel, and Junkyard Wars/Monster Garage.

But, back to Lain:

The show's okay, but again, most anime tries to do the same "questioning reality" nonsense, as the result of teen angst. I'd be more interested in the show if Lain weren't so much of a self-absorbed, pathetic lesbian, and the show opened up more characters interacting with Lain, throwing in far more side-stories (like the Mobile Suit Gundam saga has done).

Not that I totally agree with your statement, but I also think Lain is "okay." In fact, I dislike it quite a bit. I have already told a number of you why (when you PMed me *cough* Savia *cough*) and I think my reasons are fairly just. I think it's an over-rated show and that people over-react with the ending that is "okay" and thus it *must* be a great show because it's like "whoa!" That's just my opinion though...you're free to love it as well...just don't force me to reciprocate
