Or, if you're editing in Premiere, you could use its titler to put the text in using a graphical interface. Just go to New->Title and use it to make your text, save it when you close the titler, and then pull the title down onto your timeline. Adjust the length and use the rubber bands to fade it in and out if you want. You can also make an image file in Photoshop with the text you want and import it into Premiere. Just make the text on a transparent background and save it as a .psd file.
IMO, After Effects is actually better at anything involving more than just very basic text, but if all you want is basic text, you're probably best off just using Premiere...

By the way, since I came by here - hey, any good suggestions on how to put karaoke-subtitles into an AMV? You know, something along the lines of what fansubbers do to openings?
Just curious, it is an option I'm considering for a future AMV...

Were I doing it, I'd do it in AfterEffects with two layers of text (same text, two different colors) with an animated mask to uncover the lower layer of text in time with the music. There is almost certainly an easier way, though- I just don't off-hand know what it is....any good suggestions on how to put karaoke-subtitles into an AMV? mm? Really? That sounds like a possibility. I have PSP and Premiere, but no After Effects. I still haven't managed to figure out how to exploit this cross-compatability but... I guess it's time I tried
Thanks Danny, will keep that in mind...

You can use PSP's photoshop file save ability to your advantage.Otohiko wrote:mm? Really? That sounds like a possibility. I have PSP and Premiere, but no After Effects.
