Ripping from Xenosaga
I saw some Xenosaga AMVs. I really want to do something like that. Can anyone help me how to rip some scenes from the game?

Thanx.
BTW, I remember someone posted that it's quite impossible to rip from the game, considering the in-game cinematics are made from the game's own graphic engine.

It's almost impossible to rip from xenosaga. Most of the videos are generated and not prerendered. Even the few wish are prerendered are almost impossible to rip. First the DVD has hidden files wish can not be read by your computer. There is a way and I think now a program that can read it now tho. Even if you manage to read the content of the DVD I believe the videos are in munge files; somekind of zip file that only purpose would be to put multiple file into one Big file and not to actually compress files. To access the files inside the munge file is a real pain because they are always compressed diferently and so you need somekind of decompressor. To make one you need to be really talented in reverse enginering. Then you'll have Mpeg2 files even if they have a ps2 video extension. The only problem will be the audio, you need to convert it with a program like mfaudio and then you'll have your video, at least the few wish are prerendered. So it's really not recomended to rip the videos, trust me it's a lot easier to capture it all.

quick way to get videogame footage
connect the audio/video cables up to a VCR record while you play, or if you're lucky to have a TV Tuner/video capture board on your PC, connect directly to the PC instead and record while you play.
Convert video into AVI/MPG then edit as desired.
I used to record videogame footage just for kicks and had to show my sister how to do it for one of her class presentations.
Hope that helps.
