I think it can limit the number of persons who would do that...those who are not really serious won't come back 2 weeks later, or they will have forgotten their password, or stuff like that.
Those who wait 2 weeks to ownload videos show that they are really interested by AMVs, I think...

The way I see it, the same videos that were available as downloads from people's own servers (direct and indirect) existed before the local (dangling carrot/golden donut) download was ever available.

Even though a great number of videos have been moved to the local servers, the direct and indirect downloads are still available without ever having to wait. It's the same benefits as before for them....

But if you want to USE the local server that is costly and as I understand it, the up front cost still hasn't been fully met. Though the pledge level is high, the actual amount collected still isn't all that high.

In case you don't know where the stats are:

Perhaps if people better understand the way this is working they will not complain so much about the wait period. I am not talking just about you jaded...there have been several threads about people whining about the wait period like they are being forced to pledge...if you really really don't plan on donating, then waiting 2 weeks to download what is basically a gift right now, should not be a big deal.

Hopefully I myself, can at least become a giver by the end of summer

Man.. Everyone just give Phade some mula...He works hard, keeps us entertained with videos/forums and hes just nice. I'll be the first to admit, I wont donate to a website. I did this one because I use it daily.. And Yeh hopefully with a two week probational type thingy, it will fling some of the drifters and non serious types out.. Whats wrong with that? Im not rich, I couldnt donate much.. But I donated something.. <shrug> Much Respect to Phade, He answers emails promptly, and from what I see puts up with us and thats a full time job in itself.. Kudos to the site.. I would only like to see the site improve, and even if that means I would have to give more to this site, I would scrape it together and mail it in.. Even if everyone would donate a buck, he could do even much more with a truly wonderful site..
I found this site, and thought to myself, I have some spare bucks lying in my paypal account that are just sitting there, why not give to someone who appreciates the same thing I do. So Even if its a buck, mail him some cash..Keep this site up and running and the great community, even though im still a newbie, that it is..

Just My Two Cents.. And those wouldve gone to phade but I had to write this post, because i knew eventually someone would not like the two week thingy :/

I agree with the policy. Kinda makes me feel cheap that I can't donate anything (but I really can't!). Still, the relatively fair and well-working system that's running here will certainly get me to stay, promote the org to all my friends (who may have the bling to donate), and hope that in the near future I will get a job and drop some money to Phade.

If my university had an anime club, I would've made them organize a little pledge drive for the org or something. However, it seems to be one of those gay schools that either doesn't have ot doesn't at all promote its' anime club.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

oddly enough ( observe the sig), i was one of those drifters.... come into site, take take take and go away .This Local D/l made me stay.... put up w/ the grace period and oddly enough im starting to roam around the Org giving Ops and posting. The system works,i like it and if it helps the Org stay alive then by all means. And as a previous poster said, i dont donate to websites, but im gonna make an exception to this one since its given me so much over the days and geez every lil bit counts.
Lurking in the Shadows of a-m-v.org for 2 years..... until Local d/ls came along and ruined my freelancing
