This should probably go into 'Site Help', if not be a sticky under site help for as many times as it's been asked, but...
You need to have the video already entered in the database before you can upload it. Go the "Enter New Video" on the Members page, go through and enter everything (ignore the 'links' section), and confirm everything. Check "Edit my videos" to make sure that the video is showing up. Then you can go to "Upload Videos", choose the video you want to upload from the drop-down list, read through the rules and click the check box. The next screen will give you the FTP information to upload the video (you'll need an FTP client- just about every OS in existence at least comes with a text based one, or just use something like Cute FTP or WSFTP). Then you can test the upload to make sure it uploaded properly, confirm the upload, and viola! One locally hosted video.

So Ashyukun, you'r saying that it uploads directly from your/my computer?
I'm kinda slow about these things sometimes.
I was kinda wondering about that too.Ashyukun wrote:You need to have the video already entered in the database before you can upload it. Go the "Enter New Video" on the Members page, go through and enter everything (ignore the 'links' section)

You have to upload the video to the local server (the Carrot) from you computer initially, yes. You can ignore the links section because when you upload the video to the Carrot server, the code automatically creates the link in your video's profile to the local copy that's available for download. The only time you have to upload something from your own computer is when you first put it up (just like you'd do if you had more traditional hosting...). The video is stored on the Carrot's local server and downloaded from there, not from your own computer, each time someone wants to DL something....

Ok, I'm sorry to trouble you, but I'm still having trouble uploading.
Heres what I get:
Am I missing something? Or am I really just that slow.
Sorry for troubling you again.

Ok, I try to click on the file name to test it, and nothing happens. So then I click on "confirm video" and again, nothing happens. You have a pending upload to confirm. You may test the upload by clicking on the filename.
video: Final Flight
file uploaded bytes
By choosing the file and clicking the "confirm video" button, the file chosen will placed for local download. There can be only one local download copy of your video and that copy cannot be replaced once it is confirmed, so make sure that the file is correct and is the FINAL version of your video.
If you wish to cancel this upload, click the "cancel upload" and all files listed above will be deleted. You can then retry your video upload by requesting a new upload uid/pwd.

I'm assuming you used the information from the page before you got that one to use your FTP client to upload the video, right? You should be able to click on the name of the video (which should be a link) and download the video. You have to click the check-box next to the title of the video and then confirm to confirm the video- but you really don't want to do that until you've been able to test that the upload worked properly, and that the uploaded file works properly.
If you did all of the above (uploaded the file using FTP, etc) and you don't get anything at all when you click on the video title, you might want to click on the 'cancel upload' and do the whole thing over again...
