image masking/channle type

ok i was wondering how do you apply the image masking?? every time i try to apply it it doesnt work. plus how do we change the channle type so i can make a blue or green transparent background??

Goto transperancy setup, choose Chroma Key and then select the color you want to make transparent.

You can also take each frame into Photoshop, erase the background, save it as a PSD. Then import to Premiere and setup the transperancy to Alpha Channel.
