Good old Alberta, well used to be.
Old rules
Learners Permit = Class 7
Req: 85% or higher ona writen test
Full Drivers Licence = Class 5
Req: Road test with no auto-faliures commited or 75 points taken off your score. Licence is probationary until you are 18 then you get issued a regular licence.
New Rules
Class 7
Unchanged
Class 5
2 years of zero tollerance probation, zero tollerance for any blood alcohol, second road test which is supposed to be far harder. During probation you only get 8 dimertis as apoosed to the regular 15. ANd in the end it ends up costing more.
The new laws take effect May 20th. In other words I was damn close to missing out on the way more slack old rules. I got my licens the 14th.

meh ontario ...
G1 .. shit, you can only drive with someone who has had a full g licence for 2 year s or more. But it's only a writen test, get 4 wrong in any one section and you fail. If you have an understanding of the english language beyond teh grade 3 level and fail then it would be best to hang your self.
G2 - Take a road test. You get almost unlimited driving privilages ... jsut no alcohol, and i think no driving past 3 in teh morning untill 6... and there may besome high way limitations, (ie no driving on teh 400 series highways.)
G - full unrestricted g class licence ... i think you know what it dose. I'd almost be tehre by now, but i'm not ... and i don't care. however i need to beable to drive so i can get my ass to school next year ...
