If you have ever used a serrated knife, you will notice it cuts meat much more quickly because a single cut is deeper and requires less effort than a straight edged knife of the same size. A serrated sword would cut flesh deeper(and thus, incapacitating better) than a normal blade because of the way it is made.
A serated blade would have a high chance of getting snagged on your enemies muscles/bones/clothes/armor, therefore slowing you up in a fight and leaving you potentially open for attacks. Additionally, since most sword are swung and retrieved, not drawn across your opponents body, the serations would serve no real purpose beyond making your weapon look scary.

He also gave something pretty sweet. It's bascially a big ass hook (by hook think the dud in "I know what you did last summer, only 10 time bigger) with a sword type handle. It's not a very useful weapon but pretty cool looking. I got a bunch of weird crap in the garage.

So basically I just use what ever he sends me. He hasn't made Katana's so therefore I have not used one.

Yes I have a lot of weird friends...
lol i wanted to take up blacksmithing too ... but thats pretty cool, if i ever did take it up i'd become a blade smith though, i found a bunch of websites, but what would be a real big task would be a suit of armor, god those are hard to make.

see, what did i tell you ... all it dose it make the weapn look intimidating. For it to actualy be effective the way yoru thinking you'd need to be a fucking He-man. And even straihgt blade's get stuckin people when they hit bone right, neo if you have a serated balde that dose that your going to need a surgeoun to pull that sword ut of a person.

I tried to get a "rebated" meaning blunt sword, but they said that it was more expensive to get an unsharpened sword than to get a sharpened one since they are less requested.

BTW are you sure that some of those swords in the first links are unsharpened, I know the first one is but I didn't notcie them saying it on any of the other sites.

thats odd ... most places taht you can order swrods form over the net send them to you with either no edge at all or a very very coarse edge for shipping reasons.

I saw one blade that said it had a razor shape edge... But other than that I assume they are dull most blades are, so that they can sell you equipment to sharpen them on the first visit.

lol, i forgot abuot that ... yea thats another reason that they'd ship them dull. But i fail to see what danger a sharp sword is if it's being shipped in it's sheathe ... Unless you get very odd circiumstnaces like in that steven segal movie where they hijacked a train and SS had to fight off the terrorosits ...
